With the timer on 10 seconds there was more scope to compose the picture impromtu.
One big advantage of self portrait, is that just as the keen photographer always has their camera, so the subject for a self portrait is always available. I have just been playing around in picassa looking at editing some pictures. One would not be so free with an image of another. At least the copyright issues are simplified!
